Chatra bill

 

Earlier: Chatura Bill is the only bill of Harati Union. This bill has been carrying on the tradition of this union for a long time. The bill used to contain a lot of filthy fish. In addition, Magur, Shing, Tengra, Gata, Koi etc. were found in abundance in the native species of fish and which is not going to end.Due to the availability of water all year round, the bill was good as a habitat for native fish.

 

Modern Cultivation Period: In 1986, the Fishermen's Cooperative Society was formed by the people of the area. And since then fish farming has been done in a modern way till now.

At present: From 1989 to the present, the Fisheries Cooperative Society has been cultivating carp fish in a modern way on the advice of the Upazila and District Fisheries Officer on a lease granted by the government.In addition to carp fish farming, a large number of native species of fish are found in the bill, but the species of fish are on the verge of extinction.

 

Current Management Committee: - At present the association is being managed by 63 members. The number of beneficiary members of Chatura Bill is 205. Mr. Moniram Chandra Biswas is the President of the Society and Mr. Bankim Chandra Biswas is the Secretary and Mr. Narayan Chandra Biswas is the Treasurer.

 

Lease price: - In the current financial year only 3650 / - (three thousand seven hundred and fifty rupees) lease price has been fixed.

Amount of land: - The amount of land in Chatura beel is 2.05 acres but the amount of land which has water for 5/6 months during monsoon is 7 to 10 acres. Water depth averages 5/6 feet. Except during the monsoon season, there is water in 2.05 acres of land throughout the year.
